ProTours ghosting our route

Not only does stage 4 of the Tour Down Under partially follow our route into Adelaide (http://www.tourdownunder.com.au/), but Stage 2 of the Jayco-Herald Sun Tour (http://www.heraldsuntour.com.au/) follows our Colac – Warrnambool course almost exactly:

This stage is being raced tomorrow (Tues, 13/10/09) and hightlights will be shown on the digital station OneHD 7:30 – 8:00pm tomorrow night if you want to check out what the roads look like.

The plot thickens. Stage 4 of the TDU is also the stage that is to be used as the recreational ride on the same day it is raced (22/01/10). So essentially anyone (who pays their $135) can start this stage. You get a 4.5 hour headstart from the pros (6:30am start, pros start at 11:00am) if they catch you, you have to pull off until they get past.

    See: http://www.tourdownunder.com.au/getinvolved/mutualcommunitychallengetour

PS There are team entries for 5+ members. Includes jersey with team name. hmmmm. Pity its so long after we finish (~08/01/10).

Ok, the Colac-Warrnamboll stage “started in frigid and gusty conditions”, I admit it didn’t sound great. And it only got worse:

However, I don’t think you could blame the road surface, gradient or the car traffic, all of which looked excellent. And it was good to see Cheese World.
