TdF stage 4

OGEWho said cycling isn’t a team sport? The Orica-Green Edge train took everyone by surprise, blasting Simons Gerrons into the leaders jersey.

Only six Australian riders have worn the maillot jaune.
Phil Anderson (1981, 1982) 10 times – first non-European to wear it.
Stuart O’Grady (1998, 2001) 9 times – We’ll talk about 1998 a bit later.
Brad McGee (2003) 3 times
Robbie McEwen (2004) 1 time
Cadel Evans (2008, 2010, 2011) 7 times
Simon Gerrans (2013) 1 time so far…

In the GC stakes, Froome had a good day. Especially since one of his team (Geraint “Latin for old” Thomas) is riding with a fractured pelvis.

Cadel not quite where he wants to be, 24 sec down on Froome.

I had a peek at Cadel’s Diary:
Obviously we came here with high expectations and with the overall general classification in mind, so losing seconds was not our objective, but as it turned out, we didn’t perform as we needed to and conceded a lot of time over such a short distance. Now, it puts us on the back foot, only by a small margin but a margin none the less.
